Last Saturday, K, Q, and I had lunch with a friend and then went to the ice rink so that K could skate for a bit. Then, Saturday evening the whole family took advantage of the gorgeous weather and visited the Farmer’s Market in Saxapahaw – what a wonderful experience! A talented and exuberant band played while visitors danced, perused the veggies, herbs, and cheeses, sipped wine, and ate barbecue. The kids were excited by the free craft corner (dream catchers this time around), bubble station, and flying canoe ride, as well as the opportunity to roll down the hill in cardboard boxes. It was a perilous journey, with many of the children lightly squished on their roll down by children trying to jump over them, or knocked down on their climb back to the top. They seemed to take everything in stride, though, and had some old fashioned fun. It happens every Saturday evening throughout the summer, so we’ll definitely be back!
On Sunday, we took a hike in Duke Forest, and on Memorial Day, we went back to the zoo to visit the North American side. It was an easier day for me with Q on the outside, and we all had a blast. This weekend, we’re camping and going to the beach, and possibly visiting the aquarium. We really need to start making some space in our calendar for house hunting, but there are too many other things to do! ;-) Let me tell you, though, that planning a beach trip with four boys in the house is a serious exercise in patience, anger management, and organizational ability. I usually fail miserably on all three counts, but I’m making a valiant effort. Yoga is helping, at least when no one is sitting on my head. Maybe I should consider it good training for American Gladiators (not that I know what that is, of course...)
